CHICAGO — As movies such as “12 Years A Slave” are praised for their depiction of black history during slavery, one Chicago research institute wants to ensure that African-Americans also know their history before slavery.

The Queen of Sheba Historical Research Foundation (QSF/dba Roots International, Inc.) is dedicated to sharing the royal history of ancient Ethiopia which it hopes will frame a higher cultural identity for African Americans than a history restricted to slavery alone. The foundation provides over 40 years of investigative research on ancient Ethiopia, including credible connections between “Cush” of Genesis 2:13 and the Solomonic Dynasty and Throne of David in Ethiopia.

In its quest to reconnect African Americans to this history, QSF has invited Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie and his wife, Princess Saba Kebede, to Chicago to present a lecture entitled “The Origins of the Solomonic Dynasty and The Throne of David in Ethiopia, at the DuSable Museum of African-American History on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.

The event will be free to the public and is being presented in partnership with the DuSable Museum of African-American History, the Chicago Defender Newspaper, Ethiopian Diamond Restaurant, ROOTS International, Inc., and Frontline Books.

QSF has received the support of a number of historical black institutions and churches who are excited about Prince Ermias’ visit.  Ronald E. Childs, publisher of the Chicago Defender newspaper – which established a long relationship with the last two Kings of the Solomonic Dynasty as early as 1908 – will be hosting a VIP Reception for Prince Ermias on Friday, June 27, 2014 and later than evening, ; on the following day, Bishop Trotter’s New Century Fellowship of Churches and Ministries will host a private Shepherd’s Reception to welcome Prince Ermias and his lovely wife, Princess Saba Kebede in the spirited tradition of the Black Church.  Prince Ermias is looking forward to connecting with the black church, civil and business leaders in Chicago, as did his grandfather, King Haile Selassie in 1954.

The media is invited to speak with Prince Ermias and hear information about QSF’s research (see attached 4-day itinerary).
