Arena   party

31 March, 2014 by  Abebayhu Gebeyaw

Political party, who is prepared to hold meeting with the public in Enderta, Kiwha town, accuse government cadres of violating and suppressing Tigray farmer’s right. According to the party chief executive Mr Abraha Desta recent research has revealed that 90% farmers in there region has taken loan which averages 5-30 thousand Ethiopia birr from government loan funds; and farmers in countryside’s that he visited during the party’s mobilization and election campaign are extremely oppressed for the right given up for the loan. In 7 places where the party leaders held public meeting he has realized that the farmers are burdened with loans that they are indebted for fertilizers and other agricultural inputs ,if then they oppose TPLF participating in Arena meeting they will automatically be pressed to pay the loan immediately.’ Due to this, they are denied the right to support any party other than TPLF,’ he said. he also explained that since most of the citizens who returned from Saudi Arabia recently are found in Tigray region the regional government maltreated them as ‘threat to the system’ ,they are compelled to flood back to Saudi in a very dangerous and illicit channels.

Arena plans to hold another town hall in the town of Adigrat in two weeks. Promotion campaigns are underway, according to Mr. Abrha, however party members had been arrested and beaten.
