Singer and songwriter Teddy Afro and his fiancé Amleset Muchie, an occasional actress and model, tied the knot on Thursday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa. The couple picked an important religious holiday, Meskel celebration to get married, which also happens to correspond to Teddy’s father funeral day. They exchanged vows in a ceremony, before traveling around the city, and circling the Menelik Square to honor Emperor Menelik, whom Teddy celebrated in his last album. The arrival of the couple at the square prompted whoops and cheers from the passing crowds. Later in the afternoon, they headed first to the reception at Sheraton Addis and dinner party at Hilton Hotel where 1,000 guests including family and close friends joined them.
Teddy was attended by six bestmen, including guitarist Grum Mezmur, singer Shewandagne Hailu. His bride wore a stunning white gown featuring a full A-line skirt, sweetheart neckline and corset closure. White flower designs were also tied with her hair to match her dress. The groom was also dressed in white outfit.
The nuptials followed a rocky romance. The two met in 2001 when Amleset was a stylist for the singer when he did his album, Abugida. They broke off their engagement but made up a few months later. Teddy confirmed his engagement to Amleset just after Easter, the day when his last album, Tikur Sew was released. Last August Teddy spoke of how happy he was at their relationship, describing it as “magnificent”. He said, “I am very lucky to have her. She is such a wonderful person, so caring, loving and beautiful from inside and outside. I love her with all my heart. “
At least one of the songs in this album was reportedly inspired by his romance to Amleset, who has good looks, a sweet smile and poise, which certainly works in her favor. Teddy and his fiancé have made a number of public appearances in past months, which were dominated by their public displays of affection.Teddy indicated that he would like to have as many as six children in the future.

They have not revealed if and where they are going on honeymoon. However, even if they do, it is unlikely to be a long romantic honeymoon, as Teddy is preparing himself for the upcoming Ghion Hotel performance on October 20.
Amleset, who was born in Asmara, is the winner of titles Miss University 2004, Miss WorldEthiopia 2006. She studied filmmaking at New York Film Academy and Journalism at UUC. She has written and produced a romantic comedy, Si Le Feker (about Love), a short movie, “Adoption”, a documentary Green Ethiopia and has also starred in another romantic comedy “Ye Felegal”. Amleset recently split from Italian boyfriend who owns a well-known tour agency, calling off their engagement after five years together and Teddy himself has been romantically linked to a wide range of women.report by addis journal
