The Ethiopian National Transitional Council is deeply saddened by the latest TPLF/EPRDF’s
barbaric killing of innocent Ethiopians and children in the West Arsi Zone, Kofelle town this past
weekend. ENTC strongly condemns the latest brutality by TPLF/EPRDF and extends its heartfelt
condolences to the families that have lost loved ones. In addition to the brutally murdered, it
has been reported by different news outlets that thousands of Ethiopians have been arrested
and thrown in jail. The beatings and arrests are still continuing in Addis Ababa and other cities
of the country during the holyday of Eid Al-Fitr.
The tyrant TPLF/EPRDF regime has been unsuccessful in forcibly putting down the Ethiopian
Muslims protest against government interference to peacefully practice their faith. It has been
more than a year since the regime started murdering, arresting, harassing and intimidating
Ethiopian Muslim brothers and sisters. The recent assassination of Sheik Yimam Nuru in Dessie
is widely believed to be the work of the devious TPLF/EPRDF. The accusation and
misrepresentation of these peace loving Ethiopians as terrorists by the regime is the usual
blatant lie to get an excuse to terrorize the nation. Our Christian brothers and sisters should
continue their support of this movement as they have been doing it.
While TPLF is killing innocent Ethiopians, its officials travelled to Washington DC to have a week
long festivities with their ethnic based members and supporters in the area. They threw lavish
parties in fancy hotels spending hundreds of thousands of dollars that was extorted from the
wages of poor Ethiopians.
The Ethiopian National Transitional Council believes that the only solution to this endless
destruction of the country and its people is to remove the current TPLF/EPRDF regime with a
united struggle and replace it with an all inclusive transitional government. We strongly believe
that demanding anything less than will not solve our problems. As such, we call upon our
Muslim brothers and sisters and all country loving Ethiopians to unite their efforts towards this
goal.
