The Ethiopian National Transitional Council (ENTC) applauds the recent efforts of the opposition parties
in Ethiopia by awakening and leading the people to demand their rights in the face of vicious adversary.
Our Muslim brothers and sisters that have been consistently demanding answers to their questions
peacefully for almost two years, are now paying with their lives. ENTC fully supports all these struggles
which are in alignment with its own chosen method of struggle, popular disobedience.
The dictatorial TPLF-EPRDF regime, nervous of these pressures from all corners of the country, is taking
its divisive agenda to the final chapters of its implementation. It is forcing the public, especially our
Christian brothers and sisters, to go out and participate in a TPLF-organized demonstration on
September 1 denouncing the Muslim movement that is peacefully demanding for religious freedom. The
fact that this demonstration is planned to be conducted at the same place and time with the opposition
demonstration called by Semayawi party which was announced weeks ago, clearly shows the intent of
this brutal regime.
Instigating some kind of disturbance by its cadres, the regime is looking for an excuse to kill, jail or beat
innocent Ethiopians as witnessed recently in Kofele and Addis Ababa. It is looking for a legal cover to
execute its misdeeds of persecuting leaders of opposition parties and movement activists and get a fake
credibility from its foreign donors.
The question is who is the terrorist? Is it the group that is peacefully demanding for its rights or the
bandit group that is staging the battlefront to setoff conflict and bloodbath between two religions that
have co-existed for thousands of years with love and respect?
Even though we do not think that its wicked scheme will come to reality, we urge all Ethiopians to
recognize the gravity and sensitivity of the issue and denounce this plot. ENTC believes that the only
lasting solution for our problems is to reject this regime and stand together for its removal. We again
urge all Ethiopians to do their part in this struggle.
Let’s organize to remove the regime!
